I just found a green crayon in my bag, so I was rummaging around to see what else I might have been given, and realised my bag was full of biscuit crumbs, so I had to clean it out. I've been going to take some of those what's in your bag shots for ages, so I thought this was as good a time as any!
Oh.. the crayon and the biscuit would be from Kristian. He's often leaving people little gifts in bags and shoes ;)

Cleaning Cloth with Flash

Cleaning Cloth with Flash

I used a flash in a room almost totally dark to photograph my cleaning cloth. That's my speaker wire hanging in the back. I hang my cleaning cloth up on a hook on my shelf because I can't find it if I don't. The last time I found it, I hung it up there, and now when my lenses are dirty or my glasses, I don't have to go searching for it.

7:30PM on friday - 3 days to go.

i learned that laying mosaic tile is both easier and harder. it's easier to make strange cuts since you can nip off the mosaic tiles to get close and then just wet saw the rest. it's harder though because the thin set oozes up between each little mosaic. i got better as i went along but i had to clean thinset out from around at least one tile in each sheet.

still need to grout. i won't be done this weekend though...i forgot to account for drying time between setting the tile and grouting them.

i'm going to switch to a little kitchen work while i wait for the mortar to dry.

Mocha Cake

Mocha Cake

(Rachel Allen - Bake)

Hmmm, the 'easy chocolate curls' turned out as 'easy chocolate dust,' and my butter was far too soft for the icing (you can see how it's seeped out the end of the cake!), but otherwise a very delicious cake.

175g self-raising flour
50g cocoa powder
225g soft light brown sugar
175g butter, melted
4 medium eggs, separated
60ml very strong coffee, cooled
3 tbsp water

Icing :
100g butter, softened
200g icing sugar
1 tbsp water or milk
2-3tbsp very strong coffee, cooled
1. Preheat the oven to 190C/170C fan/gas 5. Oil and line a 2lb loaf tin with parchment paper (yay! finally a chance to use my Lakeland loaf tin liners and they performed brilliantly!) so that it comes over the sides of the tin. Sift the flour and cocoa powder into a large bowl, add the sugar and stir to combine.

2. Using a wooden spoon or a hand-held whisk, beat in the melted butter, egg yolks, coffee and water until smooth.

3. Whisk the egg whites in a large clean bowl until fairly stiff peaks form, then gently fold into the cake mixture in three batches making sure there are no lumps of egg white left.

4. Turn the mixture into the prepared loaf tin and smooth the surface. Give the tin a tap to remove any air bubbles. Bake in the oven for 35 minutes, then reduce the oven temperature to 160C/gas 3 for the last 20 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean. As I use a fan oven, I reduced the heat to 140C (I usually reduce by about 20 degrees) - however the cake then took a further 40 minutes to cook, rather than the 20 described in the recipe. This sort of thing has happened before, and I wonder whether if the oven temperature reduces below a certain point, I either don't need to reduce it so much, or don't need to reduce it at all.

5. Allow the cake to cool in the tin for 10 minutes then lift out by the parchment paper onto a wire rack to cool completely.

6. Make the icing - Place the butter in a large bowl and beat it thoroughly with a wooden spoon unti it is very soft. Add the sifted icing sugar and coffee and beat until smooth (as my butter was so soft I didn't need any milk, and even had to add more icing sugar to get it to a consistency where it would actually stay on a cake!). When the cake is cold, remove the parchment paper. Using a breadknife, split the cake horizontally (I also removed the top as it was no way flat enough for the runniness of my icing) and spread about a third of the icing on the lower half. Place the other half of the cake back on top and spread the rest of the icing over it.

7. Decorate as desired - it's best to leave the cake for 30 minutes to settle before cutting.

Cherry Caramom Cake

Cherry Caramom Cake

I have a glut of fresh cherries (poor me). I'm not a canning or jam/jelly making type of person, so I'm trying to use them in creative ways. My co-workers have thus far been supportive.

Cardamom Cherry Cake
**Modified from a recipe from Penzey's Spices Catalog (Harvest Peach
Upside-Down Cake).
The original recipe called for fresh peaches, and was supposed to be
cooked in a tube or bundt pan. Since I couldn't find my bundt pan, I
just made it in a 13X9 pan.

1 cup butter
3 cups sugar
6 eggs
2 1/2 cups pitted and chopped cherries
2 Tbsp. Sugar mixed with 2 tsp. Cardamom + 2 tsp. Vanilla or 2 Tbsp. Vanilla Sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350*F and bring all ingredients to room temperature.
Grease and flour pan. (I use the wrappers from the butter).
Pit and chop cherries, mix with the Cardamom Sugar and Vanilla, set aside.
Sift together flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon, set aside.
In a large bowl (or stand mixer) cream butter and sugar until well blended, light and fluffy.
Add eggs, 2 at a time, blending well after each addition, scraping down the sides of the bowl. (This is a very important step as the cake will rise higher if the sugar and butter are well beaten and the eggs
are incorporated slowly and well beaten.)
Starting and ending with the dry ingredients, gently blend in the flour mixture and fruit, one third at a time. Use a large spoon or blend on lowest speed to just combine these ingredients. Pour into the pan. Place on the middle rack in the oven and bake about 60-65 minutes (70-75 if using the bundt pan) until cake is browned and springy to the touch, or a thin skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean. Let cool at least 10 minutes before serving. Cake is easiest to cut when cool. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired
while still warm.

Shiloh Plans a Trip [1343]

Shiloh Plans a Trip [1343]

Shiloh died this morning, two weeks short of her fourteenth birthday.

In a happier time, Shiloh gets ready for a month-long vacation at my house, while Shari, her owner was working out-of-state. Little did she know she was signed up for doggie boot camp, and would drop about five pounds after weeks of playing in the backyard, and missing her usual regiment of in-between meal snacks.

In the photo, she is in another classic pose -- the begging position. She could go for long periods of time, begging patiently, or nearly so. One of the cruelest things Shari did was to get a glass topped dining room table, so Shiloh could watch people eat, from her position under the table. It was somewhat discomforting to look beyond your plate, while eating, to see Shiloh head staring up at you , though the table.

Unlike the dining room table, Shiloh saw food on a coffee table as fair game. She knew she wasn't supposed to, so when she saw an opportunity, she struck fast--be it an unsuspecting loaf of bread, or even an entire pizza. She was caught in the act of dragging the pizza off, but the loaf of bread (still wrapped in plastic) was a mysterious disappearance, until Shiloh was caught in the corner munching hard.

besides eating and sleeping, her favorite thing to do would be to go on long walks -- in search of kitties to chase. The funniest part, was she didn't even need to see a kitty -- she just needed to hear the command "get the kitty" to get all worked up, and choke herself on her leash. Every so often, she would actually see a cat, and chase after it, if she could get away. When she was younger, she could really move when motivated. Unfortunately, on the few occasions she actually did catch a cat, she didn't know what to do with it, other than bark at it. When it came down to a fight, the cat always won (I think they are meaner).

Besides cats, her arch nemesis was the vacuum cleaner. Woe to any vacuum, be it upright or dust buster that dared enter her domain. Unlike the cats, shiloh knew what to do, and would bite the vacuum until it submitted.

I am going to miss her very much.

Ruby Tuesday

Ruby Tuesday

My Mom and I arrived at Ruby Tuesday's around 6:00pm tonight. We were told that the wait for a table would be around 30 minutes. We were told that the booths in the bar were not open because they didn't have a waitress available. So, we decided to sit at the bar and eat.

Two couples sat after us and got their food before us. It happened because they first gave our meals to an On The Go customer, who realized the food wasn't for them and returned it.

We sat at the end of the bar where the drink station was located and watched the empty, dirty glasses pile up. We also watched the bartender cut fruit on the disgustingly filthy counter and then place the fruit in and on drinks. We watched the bartenders make messes, continue on without cleaning them up and not once did we see them wipe their hands on anything but their pants and not once did we see them wash their hands. I did see one bartender salt the rim of a glass and then scoop out salt chunks from the inside of the glass with her unwashed finger.

We sat patiently, waiting for our food and finally, after reminding the bartender for the 2nd time to check on our meals, she came back with two plates of mediocre looking grub. Our food was brought out to us around 6:40pm.

They didn't charge us for anything but our drinks. We don't plan on going back, I don't anyways.

starting of the long process of manifesting my dream life..as a soncious creator and live my life..
according to my values..process of the light..series ..art creations indoor and outdoor..
abstract art and digital photograph-computer art..explorations with many ways to express the inside outwards..
I love nature so it is important to use materials(now fancy word used everywhere -recycling)
well it has been going on in century's all over the globe without fancy HOT keywords in niches in various ways!!

many native people have the ways to live that can be to very good use in these days..when the new economics starts to have a new meaning with new words..well conscious creating includes all life/living and the spirit wishes to expand..so did happen to me too..

sometimes the limitations to this creativeness can be very harsh to understand and those gifts emanating from this limitation and created..can be a tremendous source of strength to anybody's path and process...there are many ways to express and be light..on this planet..artist but small way in that..bless..

extending the creativeness to all life..enjoy the process it's so rewarding.with all pain and inspiration from the highest to the lowest..bless

many blessings and be courageous enough to know you are the gift on this planet.

This photo has been used in one of my social networking profiles on ning

I am very very interrested in the spiritual life/new conscious creating and humanitys overall well and wealth fare..so that will and is included in my soulpath process journeying on and have been..for a while now..

IT IS TIME for all you to step into your true PURPOSE on this life
create with joy
experience life to its FULLNESS..expansion..even the flow of the adversity is a GIFT..and there is so so much more to life,,than meets the eyes..

come to think about this recycled cans of baby jars..dumped on me..when neghbours's?cleaned her apartment ..and said she had stored many things..having a lots of kids..and then boom later on her donating much away of collected materials as said to me ..i will not be needing these any more..well she got pregnant again..looking how funny the universe can be bless..and meeting her many many years later..

well one can alwys be crative..the rest is the nature and sun taking care of.and for all photographers..its all about light isn't it..so ride the light..shadows can also as we know..
show the light so significatly..that awareness is the key to understanding and have compassion and live with cocreating that purpose you were meant to live as your life..crate with awareness bless.

Concrete Fan

Taken with my phone. Let me explain why and how this was important to this picture.

I was walking on my way home from school, and saw this happening from an overpass. There was no time for me to take out my point & shoot in my bag, and since I already had my phone out checking texts, I quickly snapped this. No cropping or anything was done to this. Any later, he would have kept moving to the left where there was a slew of wires and a pillar, ruining the nice and neat negative space/clean composition that I saw.

This made me realize how acute and observant I've become in terms of photography, even though I still have much to learn.

It made me realize there is no "perfect" camera, that there is only the camera you have with you at all times, be it your phone, point & shoot, rangefinder, big honking dSLR.

It made me realize that there is no "perfect" moment, you stumble upon it. This revealed the beauty of street photography.. stumbling upon a moment and snapping it before it passes.

It may not win awards, it may not be printed out poster size for a gallery, but it's meaningful to me to have seen it and captured it.
